How The Freestyle Club was made

Where this came from

Charcoal made his Discord account on 3 December 2019. He made this server 21 December 2019 — eighteen days later.

He came into the Discord scene as a nobody. No following, no co-founder, nobody waiting for it, and no reason for anyone to turn up. He made the server and invited strangers into it — people he did not know, pulled in off the back of nothing.

Then he left it alone for about a year. When he came back to it, that is when the work actually started. The club anybody knows today dates from the return, not from the founding — the server had already been sitting there for a year by then, doing nothing.

Then it exploded, over years.

Not in a week and not off one video. It grew the slow way: nights that ran whether or not anybody came, the same handful of people turning up, and then more of them, until the rooms were full and there was a league, a panel of judges and a record worth keeping.

39,392members on the roster
50,112hours spent in the rooms
355,547times somebody joined one
104themed flip nights
21cyphers kept on tape

Every figure above is counted off the record as this page loads, not written into it. The rest of this site is the same thing in detail: who holds a post, every battle on tape, and every themed night that was ever crowned.
